By purchasing this app you are supporting the revitalization of the Dakota Sioux language. Profit of this application goes to the development and preservation of the End Village dialect (the language of the Yankton Sioux People) through the Marty Indian School Dakota Language Program.
This app was recorded by Diane Merrick, a fluent Native speaker from the Yankton Sioux tribe. It contains 705 sound files, 25 categories ranging from basic "Colors", "Animals", "Numbers", "Clothing" and more advanced categories such as "Commands", "Get dressed", "Dakota lifeways", "Clanship" etc. Two categories "Female Relations” and “Male Relations" feature images of community members. This app also features 3 games, 3 quizzes, search function and the ability to email game scores.
Marty Indian School is a tribally controlled school, administered and managed by tribal members, which exists primarily to benefit and serve the students and local communities through a comprehensive, quality education provided in a drug and alcohol free environment.
